About

WI LFPA

At Rue De Bungaloo Farm, our mission is to be good stewards of the land through the use of sustainable farming practices. Operated by husband and wife team Justin and Hannah, our farm is located in Athens, WI, on a portion of a former dairy farm that has been in Hannah's family for generations. We grow several types of culinary mushrooms, perennial tree fruit and berries, gourmet garlic for seed and culinary use, and we raise pastured organically- fed hogs who get plenty of apple treats. All our fruit is low to no-spray, and any minimal pest intervention is done using certified organic materials. Not spraying our orchard with conventional (or even the majority of organic approved) chemicals means that we are willing to accept a bit of imperfection in order to protect the amazing creatures that also play an integral role in keeping our orchard healthy. It's way healthier for us humans, too.

Diversity is key! We grow dozens of different kinds of apples and garlic, not only because it's more fun and delicious, but also because it helps us preserve historically and culturally important varieties and increase the chance that some of our crops will be successful no matter what the season has in store. Our mushrooms are grown in a controlled indoor environment (mostly oysters) as well as on logs and in woodchip beds outdoors (shiitakes, winecaps, and other seasonal mushrooms). Please reach out with any questions about our growing practices or product availability, and follow our farm adventures on Facebook and Instagram.

We thank you for choosing us to be your farmers! Your support means that we can continue to farm in an ecologically friendly way. Together, we can change the food system, take better care of our shared planet, and feed our families the healthies and most delicious food possible!
