Our next Community Chat @MOR is featuring Master Herbalist Kerri Kiernan, owner of River Prairie Apothecary. If you don't think you have a green thumb, think again. Some of the most powerful medicinal plants are already growing right outside your door-you just haven't been properly introduced. Join us for a playful hands-on evening dedicated to falling in love with local weeds. We will treat these overlooked plants like the eligible singles they are wild, resillient, and full of surprises.
🌿 5:30 PM – Meet & Mingle (with plants & people) Walk a horseshoe of tables lined with fresh, seasonal weeds and backyard botanicals. Each plant comes with its own “dating profile”—folk name, Latin name, herbal uses, and a little personality. Snap photos, ask questions, and get to know who’s in season right now.
🌿 6:00 PM – Group Discussion & Q&A We’ll dive deeper into working with the featured plants: how to identify them, harvest respectfully, and put them to use, or just admire them where they grow. Bring your curiosity—there will be plenty of time for questions.
🌿 7:00 PM – Plant Sale & Pack-Up A selection of medicinal plants Kerri is growing this season will be available for purchase to take home (weather and germination willing—think weeds, garden herbs, and native plants).
🌿 7:30 PM – Optional Mini Plant Walk (across the way) For those who want a field date: we’ll cross the road and see if we can spot any of our featured plants growing wild. No pressure, no formal botany lecture—just a short, curious wander to see what Mother Nature is offering up right now.
Bring: comfortable clothes & shoes if staying for the walk, your phone/camera for notes, and maybe a box if you fall hard and take a plant home.
