Dreaming of being your own boss? Starting a business is like taking a leap and then running a marathon. If you have the drive, self-confidence, and are willing to challenge yourself daily, it may be time to learn some business basics.
Tour River Street kitchen and chat with Kitchen Steward Michelle Thiede about what River Street Kitchen and Market on River can offer a start-up compared to the cost of a brick and mortar.
In this workshop, we will identify the first steps and cost of starting a food-based business. What licensing do you need and how often do you need to renew your business license? We will discuss the pros and cons of the different Business Structures: Sole Proprietorship, LLC, Partnerships, and Corporations. As you start your entrepreneur journey, things to think about including a business plan, how to cost out your product, a mission statement, is your product filling a missing niche in the community? Ultimately, what is the profitability and sustainability of your idea?
