St. Croix County Large Scale Solar Community Information Session

Description

An informational session regarding Wisconsin large-scale solar policy, important factors for communities to consider, and the potential they have to engage with the process in St. Croix county. 

We will also discuss ways communities can try to protect themselves from potential project costs. 


The goal of this event is purely educational, the planning team consists of individuals opposed to, supportive of, and unsure of the project. Our goal for this event is not to convince anyone how to feel about large-scale solar projects, but to provide the basic information so all parties can have accurate information while forming their opinions. 

This session will also have experts in the room to provide context on the electrical grid, Wisconsin policy, and publicly available information on the Tenmile Creek Solar Project. To allow for everyone to attend, this is a hybrid informational session which will be recorded. This session will have question and answer periods for true questions and information sharing. 

We plan to host facilitated discussion sessions in the weeks after this event for communities who are interested. Where there can be discourse to consider how communities can leverage the best outcomes possible for all members. This event is hosted by the Wisconsin Farmers Union in partnership with St. Croix CURES - we will be notifying Xcel Energy staff of the event but this is not an Xcel Energy hosted event and we cannot guarantee they will be present to answer questions.

In-person event: Refreshments will be served at 5:00 and programming will begin at 5:30 until 7:30 Online: Will begin at 5:30 - 7:30
