We’re excited to announce the launch of River Street Kitchen, a new commissary kitchen located at Market on River (MOR) by the Farmers Union. To celebrate, we’re hosting a series of free incubation and educational workshops for the community.
Join us in welcoming Jessie Braun, owner of Braun Bakes, and Allison Peller, owner of Peller & Co. Bakery—two successful cottage bakers who currently operate out of their home kitchens. Braun Bakes is known for its creative, small-batch bagels made with quality ingredients and can be found popping up at markets throughout Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls, including MOR. Peller & Co. Bakery specializes in artisan cookies, cakes, pies, sourdough crackers, and other handcrafted baked goods, offering products not found at any traditional bakery in the area.
On January 22 at 5:30 PM, come chat with these cottage bakers about the realities of running a bakery from home. We’ll discuss the benefits and limitations of cottage baking, how it compares to working out of a commissary kitchen, navigating cottage food laws, pricing and profitability, and planning for future growth.
Jessie and Allison will share their personal journeys, business goals, and how they approach product pricing and scaling their operations. Following the discussion, attendees are welcome to stay and ask individual questions. Michelle Thiede, Steward of River Street Kitchen, will also be available to talk about commissary kitchen opportunities.
This event is free and open to anyone interested in baking, food entrepreneurship, or learning more about launching and growing a food business.
